Blue Hippo PC

Some of you may have heard of the Blue Hippo PC before and some of you may have never heard of it. Blue Hippo was actually one of the most popular places to buy a computer without having your credit checked. That is until recently when the blue hippo computer company was shut down by the FTC because of mounting consumer complaints of not receiving purchased PCs. The complaints actually got really bad and people were regularly getting ripped off by this company.

A quick look at the blue hippo computer sales shows that they took in roughly $15 million in payments yet only shipped out one computer. You can read more about this article by visiting the arstechnica.com website where they wrote an article about it back in November of 2009. The FTC never really liked how this company operated because they require people to make some money payments to them prior to receiving their computer. The company would require weekly payments and would typically want to receive 12 to 16 payments prior to them shipping out your computer. So you have to wait roughly 3 months and would have to make payments on a weekly basis in order to receive your computer.

The blue hippo computer offer has now been called a scam and you should avoid it at all costs. Luckily this has been made super easy recently because the company has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy and their website is no longer available online. It was probably taken down at the request of the Federal Trade Commission because of all the consumer complaints about not receiving purchased computers. The company always had a good amount of complaints from customers due to poor customer service. They likely knew that was coming because the reports claim that they pocketed $15 million and did not send out any computers. It would not be surprising to hear about some type of lawsuit or charges brought by the FTC against this company.

This is good information to know because there’s still stuff out there talking about the blue hippo computer funding or the blue hippo free PC. So if you see any of these types of offers just stay away from them because you do not want to be taken advantage of. There isn’t much worse than paying money for something and then not ever receiving what you thought you were paying for.

There are other companies that offer a similar service to what blue hippo did but in a much better way. They typically have much better reviews from consumers and you don’t have to worry as much about getting ripped off. You always want to be cautious when buying online regardless of where it’s from because it is easy for someone to take money from you and then never send you anything in return.
